Dance Camp Director
Kerch, as she is affectionately called, has been part of the Brant Lake Camp community each and every summer since 1998. Starting first as a young camper, Kerch has proudly served as a Junior Counselor, Counselor, Head Counselor, Assistant Director, Co-Director and now Director of Dance Camp.
Kerch holds a Bachelors degree in Mathematics from Bucknell University, where she minored in Dance and was a 4 year member of the Bucknell Dance Company, and a Masters in Education from Johns Hopkins University. She currently teaches Upper and Middle school Math at The Brearley School, an all-girls private school in Manhattan. At Brearley, her additional responsibilities include advising students as a room teacher and working on the social-emotional learning curriculum. Before coming to Brearley, Kerch taught Upper School Math at Glenelg Country School where she also served as the Dean of the 10th Grade. Her experiences counseling student athletes and artists have been particularly useful here at Brant Lake Camp!
In her spare time during the off-camp season, Kerch loves to travel, take spin, barre and boxing classes, watch bad television and enjoy NYC with friends, family, and BLC "family".
Associate Director of Brant Lake Camp/Dance Camp Advisor
Annemiek Gersten has been the Director or Administrator of Brant Lake Dance Camp for over 35 years. She believes that camp is the best summer environment for kids to explore being their best selves.
"Mieks", as she is known around camp, grew up and went to school in NYC, graduated from the High School of Performing Arts and then NYU. She had been involved in professional theater throughout her youth and has gone to camp since she was two. She has lived and breathed "Camp" her whole life. Mieks is married to Richie Gersten of Brant Lake Camp for Boys and the camps have been in his family since BLC started in 1916 and BLDC started in 1980. Their son, Max Gersten is a fourth generation Director of Brant Lake Camp. Their daughter, Thea Gersten, loves coming up to camp to visit her family. When not at camp, Mieks enjoys doing photography, biking in Central Park, going to live theater, dance, music and other events in NYC, traveling and spending lots of time with family.
